Phil 1:11 Gal 5:22 Humility and Gentleness

We are continuing in the study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. . Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17;

We are looking at Paul's prayers that are recorded in his letters we can better understand what we should pray for.

At the moment we are considering Paul's prayer for the spiritual growth of believers that was recorded in Phil 1:9-11;

In verse 11 Paul prays for believers to be filled with the "fruit of righteousness."

This righteousness is produced in the believer by God when the believer is functioning in the spiritual life through the application of Bible Doctrine to experience under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit.

We have seen that in the Phil 1:11; passage this production is viewed with regard to the quality of it's character as the “fruit of righteousness,” and in Gal 5:22, the same production is viewed with regard to it's source as the “fruit of the Spirit.”where details of it's characteristics are also described.

We are presently studying gentleness which is listed as the 8th facet of the righteous production of the Holy Spirit in the believer which is is the Greek word "prautes" which is generally translated "gentleness" in the NASB, meekness in the KJV and occasionally translated humility which means gentleness, humility or meekness.

Last time we discussed the categories of genuine and enforced humility and started a discussion of humility in worship. John 4:23-24;

It is Bible Doctrine (the word of God, the thinking of TLJC) circulating in the soul's stream of consciousness under the in the Filling ministry of God the Holy Spirit that is true worship Isa 66:2; NET

The word of God is said to be preeminent in worship Psa 138:2; KJV, NIV

Respect for the Lord is personal love for God, which is the response of the believer in spiritual self-esteem to God's love for them 1John 4:19;

Humility is a system of divine viewpoint thinking related to grace orientation, doctrinal orientation, authority orientation, and occupation with Christ.

This means that humility is a system of recognizing the authority of Jesus Christ as the ruler of the Church, and that He has delegated all authority in the Church Age to the Word of God, with the primary focus being the mystery doctrine found in the Church- Age epistles, and appointed the pastor-teacher as God's delegated authority to teach the Word of God in the local assembly.

A believer who operates in true humility operates in a system of thinking Bible Doctrine, which results in the believer having wisdom and as a result the believer lives in directive will of God rather than the permissive will of God.

Wisdom comes from humility which has respect for God and his thinking. Prov 9:10; Prov 15:33;

Humility is the basis for having wisdom in life and wisdom is the basis for receiving honor so there is no honor without humility. James 3:17; Prov 29:23;

Humility is both a system of thinking as well as a way of life and becomes one's system of thinking before it becomes a way of life. Prov 23:7a;

When we are born physically, we must grow up as a human being in a family under a system of establishment authority. Eph 6:1-3;

When we are born again as a new spiritual species we must grow up as a member of the church, the body of Christ in the local assembly under the authority of God the Holy Spirit inside the PPOG as revealed through word of God and taught by their right pastor-teacher. 2Pet 3:18; Eph 4:11-13; 1Pet 5:3; NET note 6
