Phil 1:11 Gal 5:23 Self-Control a Righteous Production of God the Holy Spirit in the Believer

We are continuing in the study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. . Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17;

We are looking at Paul's prayers that are recorded in his letters we can better understand what we should pray for.

At the moment we are considering Paul's prayer for the spiritual growth of believers that was recorded in Phil 1:9-11;

In verse 11 Paul prays for believers to be filled with the "fruit of righteousness."

This righteousness is produced in the believer by God when the believer is functioning in the spiritual life through the application of Bible Doctrine to experience under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit.

We have seen that in the Phil 1:11; passage this production is viewed with regard to the quality of it’s character as the “fruit of righteousness,” and in Gal 5:22, the same production is viewed with regard to it’s source as the “fruit of the Spirit.”where details of its characteristics are also described.

Last time we concluded our study of gentleness which is based in humility and started a study of the 9th category of the production of God the Holy Spirit in the believer which is self- control.

Self-Control is translated from The Greek noun "egkrateia" and means self-discipline or self-control, it is the virtue of one who masters their desires and passions, especially their sensual desires.

Self-discipline or self-control is established in humility and results in an"organized life".

One who has self-discipline will have an organized life. An organized life is based upon having the right priorities, which means a "time" for everything. A time for God, time for doctrine, Time for family, friends, business and a time for pleasure. and an organized life is also based upon Bible doctrine, which gives the believer the capacity to organize their life and have inner happiness with the right priorities.

Having the right priorities means having things in their proper order "a time for everything," Eccles 3:1-8; a time for God, doctrine, family, friends, business, etc.

Bible doctrine provides the capacity to have an organized life and to have inner happiness with the right priorities.

It is the organized person who is persistent and consistent in the perception of Bible doctrine. Under the doctrine of election, where there is equal privilege and equal opportunity for all and therefore no excuses for failure to advance in the PPOG.

Every believer has the same opportunity as every other believer to advance to spiritual maturity, and have their own personal experience glorify God.

Those who whine and complain are in self-induced misery because of arrogance and self-absorption.

Their priorities have been established by the arrogance of the kosmic system and their OSN rather than from the humility, gentleness and self control that comes from developing a personal sense of destiny that can deal with the difficulties of life inside the PPOG under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit with Bible Doctrine circulating in their thinking through their application of the Faith Rest Drill.

Believers are instructed to make the most of their time EPH 5:16. In order to do that they must be organized. The self-disciplined believer comes to Bible class, is teachable through humility, and has organized his life on the basis of Biblical priorities and a doctrinal scale of values.

The principle of self-control is taught in many passages in the Bible, including: Proverbs 16:32; Proverbs 25:28, James 3:2,(perfect=mature, complete or finished) PSA 39:1, ROM 6:12.

Paul instructs that self-control must characterize the one who would contend reward in any venue of life.

2Tim 2:4;"No soldier on active duty entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life [a believer on active duty in the army of God does not live a normal life and is not in bondage to the details of life], so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier [Every believer is enlisted as a soldier on the day of their salvation].

2Tim 2:5;NET note 8 Every athlete in the Ancient Olympic games went through identical training no matter what event they were training to compete in.
