Phil 1:11 Paul's prayer for Believer's Spiritual Growth Part 3

In the context of our study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. . Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17;

We are considering Paul's prayer for the spiritual growth of believers recorded in Phil 1:9-11;

Phil 1:11; having been completely filled up with the production of righteousness [which is the total fulfillment of spiritual progress] which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God

or

Having been completely filled up with the production fruits} of righteousness the 'Total Fulfillment of Spiritual Progress' - dikaiosune} The which comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.

Ultra Super Grace production Glorifies God now and forever. This is divine production and is a result not a means . . . and it is NOT human works.

The syntax of this passage is an "accusative of Retained Object" which is a construction where the active verb is put into the passive. The person receiving the action, in such instances, becomes the subject rather than the direct object.

In the active voice, the verse would say "TLJC completely filled you up with the production of righteousness", but in the passive, be believer becomes the subject and it says " having been completely filled up with the production of righteousness" through TLJC

Remember the passive voice is the voice of Grace. (God does all the work) God's Grace is emphasized by this syntax.

Righteous Production in the spiritual life of the believer is a function of the believer receiving the action of God's grace. The believer receives this super grace production by proper orientation similar to the way a mirror or lens can be oriented to capture energy from the sun.

Phil 1:11;

“Having been completely filled with the fruit of righteousness” The “fruit of righteousness” is the production that accrues from God as a result of the believer's proper orientation from living inside the PPOG

The words translated " having been completely filled up" is the perfect passive plural of (ðëçñüù [pleroo ) which means to make full, to fill up or to be to the full, to abound, or to supply liberally.

The passive voice means the believer receives the action of the verb and the perfect tense means it is a completely finished reality accomplished by God.

The use of the completed action of the perfect tense implies a view back from the the Judgment Seat.

From that vantage point Paul is saying “that you may be then (at the Judgement seat of TLJC) found to have been filled with the fruits of righteousness while you were here in this world.”

Paul's prayed for integrity love (agape) , guided by knowledge (epignosis) and discernment (aisthesis) all of which are supplied by God would enable the Philippian belivers to make the very best possible choices from the position of strength God had provided for them inside the PPOG.

This would lead them to become pure, harmless, (believers with integrity from the PPOG) whose lives would bring glory to God.

"with the fruit of righteousness"

the word translated "righteousness" is (äéêáéïóýíç [dikaiosune ) which in the context of Phil 1:11 means the production of the spiritual life which is integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking feeling, and acting.

A right thing done in a right way for the right reason at the right time.

The phrase also occurs in the Sepuagint in Proverbs 11:30 . This righteousness is the production of the believer functioning inside the PPOG under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit.

In Phil 1:11; This production is viewed with regard to it's character as the “fruits of righteousness,” in Gal 5:22, the same production os viewed regarding their source as the “fruit of the Spirit.”

Gal 5:22, But the fruit or the production of the Spirit is love [a reference to virtue-love], joy [inner happiness], peace [inner peace and overt prosperity], patience [which refers to patience as well as longsuffering], kindness, [or graciousness], goodness, [the production of divine good], faithfulness [pistis],

Gal 5:23, gentleness, self control; against such things there is no law.

In both cases, the word translated fruit is ( karpon êáñðὸí ) (masculine singular of karpos) means production or that which is produced.

The singular form, “fruit,” is used because the unique spiritual life is the singular source of all the facets of the believer's production.

It also indicates the unity and harmony of the integrity of TLJC which is being reproduced and re-presented in the believer by the power of the Holy Spirit and metabolized Bible Doctrine. Col 1:27; Gal 4:19;

TLJC while on this earth in his unglorified humanity demonstrated this lifestyle of "the fruit of righteousness". 1John 2:1;

Every believer has the option and potential to live in this lifestyle, believers who are living inside the PPOG for their lives have this "fruit of righteousness" produced in them by God the Holy Spirit by means of their PMA of Bible Doctrine. Rom 1:17;

This righteousness is known as capacity or functional righteousness which must be differentiated from positional judicial righteousness which every believer receives as a grace gift at salvation.

Again the principle of grace is demonstrated. God gives every believer the righteousness of God at salvation 2Cor 5:21; and then instructs belivers to function in the production of rightousness because they are righteous. 1John 5:18;

The believer's position in righteousness provides capacity for and preceeds their function in the production of righteousness.

The multifaceted production of righteousness in the spiritual life is synergistic, all elements being mutually consistent, and each encouraging and enhancing the others in coordination and cooperation in the unique life of the “new man", Ephesians 4:24.

Phil 1:10; "through Jesus Christ"
(the words "which comes") are added to make the English translation flow better.

The word "through" which is translated from "äéÜ [dia ) is an instrumantality of means or source and means because of or by means of or on account of.

Jesus Christ is the source of, or means of the believer's "production of righteousness"

For there to be production in the believer's spiritual life, the believer has to be rightly related to the source of their production.

TLJC spoke to his disciples regarding being rightly related for the production of righteousness that Paul is praying for in the upper room before he went to the cross.

John 15:1-11, Expanded translation:

"I [Jesus Christ] am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch [believer] in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away [The sin unto physical death as a result of discipline]; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it [suffering for blessing], that it may bear more fruit.

You are already clean [saved] because of the doctrine [the gospel] which I have spoken to you. Abide in me [stay in fellowship], and I in you [a mandate for the PMA of Bible Doctrine].

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me [fellowship with God], and I in him [through residual doctrine in the stream of consciousness], he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.

If anyone does not abide in Me [the believer out of fellowship], he is thrown away like a branch [the judgment of the dead works of a believer], and dries up; and they [angels] gather them, and cast them [dead works] into the fire, and they are burned.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you. By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My indoctrinated ones [students].

"Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and {that} your joy may be made full."

Verses 1-11 discuss the symbols of the vine and the branch, The subject is abiding, or having the proper orientation, which leads to fruit bearing.

John 15:1, "I [Jesus Christ] am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser."

The vine is Jesus Christ Himself, and God the Father is the vinedresser, or the gardener, the .one who carries out the work of cultivating, pruning, and working with the vine.

God the Father is looking over the vineyard, working with the vine and the branches. The branches are found in John 15:5, "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me [fellowship with God], and I in him [through residual doctrine in the stream of consciousness], he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing."

The branch is the believer.

John 15:2, "Every branch [believer] in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away [divine discipline resulting in the sin unto physical death]; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it [suffering for blessing], that it may bear more fruit."

TLJC first discusses the believer's position ("in Me"), and then He discusses production ("bears fruit"),

All believers are "in Christ" by faith alone in TLJC alone at the point of their salvation, but only those who are also living inside the PPOG have the proper orientation to enable the production of fruit.

The vine analogy was used regarding Israel in the Old Testament, in Isa 5:1-7.

Then, just as it is now the production of the vine was the result of believers abiding in God's plan for their life. God looked at His vineyard which in this case was Israel and wanted to see production didn't find it.

Isa 5:7 God names two forms of production, justice and righteousness, and neither one was present in the Israelites.

This same analogy is being presented by TLJC to his disciples by in John 15.

Bearing fruit has to do with reproducing the life of the vine in the fruit that is held by or carried by the branch. TLJC never commands believers to be the source of the production of the fruit.

He does command us to abide in Him, and when we abide in Him, fruit comes in abundance from him. TLJC is the source of all production.

The Lord's concern is that there be a maximum production of fruit that can be borne or carried by the believer.

The idea of abiding in Christ is identical to being filled with the Spirit Eph 5:18;, walking by means of the the power of the Holy Spirit Gal 5:25; and living a life that is dependent on TLJC inside the PPOG. Gal 2:20;

A branch that is disoriented by being down in the dirt will never bear good fruit, so the branch must be kept clean, likewise, believers who sin cannot bear good fruit . When the believer's sin is brough to their attention, they are simply to acknowledge it and be cleaned. 1 John 1:9; and keep on abiding.

If believers do not abide in TLJC, there will be no fruit. The source of the fruit is God the Holy Spirit as the life of Jesus Christ or His character, is re-presented in the believer, the characteristics of which are described in Gal 5:22-23, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control; against such things there is no law.

This is the kind of fruit the vinedresser wants the vine to produce in the branches. In this passage, the nine words which describe the fruit of the Spirit represent superhuman qualities of character. There is absolutely no way that these qualities could be produced by human ability; they are divine characteristics which can only be produced by the Divine power that is available from living inside the PPOG.

They are all considered to be one fruit of the Spirit! The Holy Spirit does not produce a few of these in one believer and more or less in another; it's all or nothing. If one is present, then all are present and these nine facets constitute the essential elements of the "fruit of righteousness" that Paul is praying for believers to have..

Phil 1:11;

We'll pick up here next time with our discussion regarding Paul's prayer for believers to be filled with the furit of righteousness which comes through TLJC to the glory and praise of God.
