Patience a facet of the Fruit of Righteousness in Paul's prayer for believers advance in Phil 1:11

In the context of our study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. . Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17;

We are considering Paul's prayer for the spiritual growth of believers recorded in Phil 1:9-11;

We are presently considering verse 11 where Paul is praying for believers to be:

Phil 1:11; having been completely filled up with the production of righteousness [which is the total fulfillment of spiritual progress] which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God

or

Having been completely filled up with the production "fruit of righteousness" (dikaiosune) the 'Total Fulfillment of Spiritual Progress' - The which comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.

We are presently examining the phrase "fruit of righteousness" or (dikaiosune) which is produced in the believer through TLJC under the ministry of God the Holy Spirit.

We have seen that in the Phil 1:11; passage the production is viewed with regard to it's character as the “fruit of righteousness,” and in Gal 5:22, the same production is viewed with regard to it's source as the “fruit of the Spirit.” and described in more detail.

We have already discussed the first (3) facets of this production of Righteousness which are Integrity Love (Agape) , The Happiness of God (Chara) , and Inner Peace and Overt Prosperity (Eirene).

The fourth part of the fruit of righteousness which is the production of the Spirit is described by the Greek noun makrothumia meaning patience and longsuffering.

This patience and longsuffering is produced in the believer by God the Holy Spirit so it is the patience and longsuffering of God.

The patience and longsuffering of God is related to His lovingkindness and truth (Psa 86:15).

It is because the Lord is filled with lovingkindness and truth that He can be so patient with all mankind.

Patience and longsuffering is related to the compassion of the Lord as described in (Psa 103:8), and believers who have it will also be very compassionate.

It is related to his omnipotence. Nah 1:3, and his kindness and tolerance which gives time and space for people to change their mind. Rom 2:4,

A believer who has the patience and longsuffering of God will be very sensitive and compassionate to those who are guilty and need to change their mind.

Remember the word translated "repent" is the Greek word metanoia which simply means to change one's mind. There is no emotional baggage or system of human works or guilt or sorrow or apology implied or inferred.

it is simply a change of thinking which in this case is directed toward God, the TLJC and his desire for every person which is stated in 1Tim 2:3-4;

Believers are able to demonstrate patience toward others to the degree that they recognize that they are the recipients of patience. This cognition comes from the recall of the Bible Doctrine concerning God's patience with believers.The patience and longsuffering of God is related to the Lord's tolerance and endurance with us,

Paul describes this in regard to himself in 1Tim 1:15-16;

As always in God's grace policy principle comes before function and position before production. The believers are the receipients of God's patience and then as they become aware of God's grace through the PMA of Bible Doctrine under the ministry of God the Holy Spirit they have capacity to exhibit that same grace to others.

This was patience demonstrated by the work of TLJC on the cross. Rom 5:8;

Our Lord has perfect patience toward everyone because he knows our state and our inablilty. Rom 3:10-12; Rom 3:23; and it is by means of his work that God made provision for the reconciliation of all mankind. 2Cor 5:18-21;

Patience is a very important facet of the "Fruit of Righteousness" which is developed and produced by God the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer as the believer has the power of the thinking of TLJC (Bible Doctrine) residing and circulating in their stream of conscousness, Col 1:10-12;

Patience and longsuffering is a system of of the thinking of Bible Doctrine (which is the thinking of TLJC), a system of concentration and the application of doctrine to experience, it is not emotion.

A patient person will be slow to exhibit the emotion of anger, Prov 14:29,

A patient person will be slow to exhibit the emotion of fear. Exod 14:13;

Patience with others will also helps resolve and reconcile differences, Prov 15:18,

Patience is a virtue which gives the believer fantastic strength under pressure. Prov 16:32;

Patience enables believers to be discrete and overlook the sins of others, Prov 19:11;

Believers with patience rest in the Lord and let the Him handle any unfair or unjust treatment, Psa 37:7,

Patience gives us the strength and power to handle undeserved suffering and maltreatment and bring glory to the Lord (1Pe 2:19-23).

Paul instructed Timothy and by extension all teachers that they must have much patience with members of the local assembly. 2Ti 4:2,

Patience is needed by those who teach Bible Doctrine because doctrine can be taught accurately for years, and still be rejected because it is God the Holy Spirit, not the teacher is the source of understanding. 2Tim 2:7;

The teacher has to have the patience to wait on the work of God the Holy Spirit to bear fruit in the believer's life. Sometimes that takes a long time because of the believer's negative volition as was the case with some of the believers in Corinth 2Cor 6:11-12;

Believers need Patience for waiting on the timing of God for his promises, Heb 6:12, Heb 6:13-15; Isa 40:31;

Patience is also needed when believers have done all that they are supposed to do, and things in their life have still not changed, Heb 10:36,

Patience enables believers to put up with each other as they continue to advance in the PPOG for their lives. Eph 4:2,
