Nationalism as part of Establishment good Phil 1:11; Gal 5:22
In the context of our study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. .
Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17;
We are considering Paul's prayer for the spiritual growth of believers recorded
in Phil 1:9-11;
In verse 11 Paul is praying for believers to be filled with the "fruit of righteousness."
which is the result of the believer's PMA of Bible Doctrine which is the mind
of TLJC.
Phil 1:11; having been completely filled up ( perfect tense passive voice )with
the production of righteousness [which is the total fulfillment of spiritual
progress] which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God
We have seen that in the Phil 1:11; passage the production is viewed with
regard to the quality of it's character as the “fruit of righteousness,” and in
Gal 5:22, the same production is viewed with regard to it's source as the
“fruit of the Spirit.” where details of it's characteristics are also
described.
We have looked at the first (5) facets of this production of Righteousness
which are Integrity Love (Agape) , The Happiness of God (Chara) , Inner Peace
and Overt Prosperity (Eirene), Patience and longsuffering (makrothumia) and
kindness, graciousness, generosity, and sensitivity to others (chrestotes).
We are presently studying the sixth characteristic of the fruit of
righteousness which is the production of the Spirit in the believer who has the
thinking of TLJC through metabolized Bible Doctrine as described by the Greek
noun "agathosune", which is from the root "agathos" which
means which means to be generous, virtuous and to produce divine good. Divine
good has inherent or intrinsic value.
We have seen that Divine good is an absolute concept related to God and his
perfection and that Human good is a relative concept related to mankind and
imperfection. And that there are (3) categories of good in human history: Human
Good, Morality or Establishment Good and Divine Good.
We are presently discussing Morality or Establishment good as a subset of Human
Good and contrasting it with Divine Good in human history.
Morality or establishment good when performed by an unbeliever or believer who
is outside of the PPOG is human good because it's impact is limited to time and
is therefore temporary. That same morality or establishment good when performed
by a believer who is functioning inside the PPOG under the mentorship of God
the Holy Spirit through the application of Bible Doctrine is divine good
because its impact is eternal.
Last time we finished the study of the family as the third law of divine
establishment where parents have authority over their children and we just
started looking at the fourth source of legitimate authority which is national
government. We saw that God established nations as described in Acts 17:26; Rom
13:1-8; Deut 32:8;
A nation is created when a community of people who possesses a defined
territory, a unique culture and a common language form up under an independent
government.
At any given time in history God has declared the boundaries of nations. God is
the One who divided the earth into different countries and declared the
boundaries of those nations.
Government within a nation has authority over the people in the nation for the
purpose of protecting their lives, their freedom, and their property, 1Tim
2:1-2;
Nationalism as a divine institution can be tracked back to Genesis 10. Cush,
one of Ham's sons and the grandson of Noah was the father of Nimrod, the human
leader of the first unsuccessful satanic attempt to establish a world
government and create a global culture under Satan's supervision after the
flood. Gen.10:6-8;
God destroyed this one world government and culture which had a common language
by causing the inhabitants to speak different languages and scattering them in
order to preserve mankind on the earth. Gen 11:6-11;
God had previously told them to fill the earth, not to congregate in one area.
Gen 9:1,7; but they arrogantly chose to disobey God and establish themselves
Gen 11:4; NET note 13
He divided them into nations in three ways, racially, geographically, and
linguistically.
The division of languages along racial lines caused the people to separate
geographically per God's plan.
Nationalism recognizes that mankind benefits from nations acting independently
rather than collectively by emphasizing national rather than international
goals.
Legitimate government in a nation has authority over its citizens, but that
authority is useless apart from human consent where human volition responds to
it under the principle of freedom.
