Phil 1:11; Gal 5:22; The faithfulness of God cont...

We are continuing in the study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. . Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17;

At the moment we are considering Paul's prayer for the spiritual growth of believers that was recorded in Phil 1:9-11;

In verse 11 Paul is praying for believers to be filled with the "fruit of righteousness." which is the result of the believer's PMA of Bible Doctrine which is the mind of TLJC.

An expanded translation of Phil 1:11; having been completely filled up (perfect tense passive voice )with the production of righteousness [which is the result of advance from the PMA of Bible Doctrine under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit] which comes by means of Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God

This righteousness is produced in the believer by God when the believer is functioning in the spiritual life through the application of Bible Doctrine to experience under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit.

We have seen that in the Phil 1:11; passage the production is viewed with regard to the quality of it’s character as the “fruit of righteousness,” and in Gal 5:22, the same production is viewed with regard to it’s source as the “fruit of the Spirit.” where details of it's characteristics are also described.

We are presently studying the seventh characteristic of this righteous production of
the Spirit in the believer who has the thinking of TLJC through metabolized Bible Doctrine as described by the Greek noun "pistis", which in this passage refers to the virtue of faithfulness which means to be trustworthy, reliable, and steadfast.

God's faithfulness to the believer is the basis for the production of faithfulness by God the Holy Spirit in the believer .... the believer's faithfulness is established in the faithfulness of God.

Believers cannot be faithful apart from understanding and living in confident expectation from God in God's grace provision.

We are presently considering some examples of God's faithfulness in spite of man's unfaithfulness that are recorded in scripture as examples for us. 1Cor 10:11;

Last time we concluded with examples of God's faithfulness to faithlessness to Abraham and Isaac in spite of their unfaithfulness, today we will pick up with Isaac's son Jacob.

Jacob got the birthright from his brother Esau. Gen 25:31-33, and subsequently conspired with his mother and deceived his father to receive the blessing that belonged ot Esau. Gen 27:15-29;

and in spite of this, God was faithful to him and even as he was running away from Esau because of his fear that he would kill him because of his deceit, Gen 27:41-43; and In spite of his unfaithfulness, God confirmed the promises to him, Gen 28:12-15; and ultimately changed Jacob's name which meant "one who supplants" to Israel, which means "a prince with God". Gen 32:27-28;

Despite their unfaithfulness, God identifies himself in scripture as the "the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." Exod 3:6; and they are mentioned in the New Testament record of Old Testament believers who were noted for their application of Bible Doctrine to their experience to the glory and praise of God, Heb 11: 17-21;

God was faithful to Moses who understood his destiny was to free Israel from Egypt, but he got out of the timing of God and killed the Egyptian, Exo 2:12 ; and when he discovered that his actions were public fled to the land of Midian.

When called by God 40 years later, he made excuses to God, saying that he was not fit to be used by God ot free Israel from Egypt. Exo 3:11 ; that he was not eloquent enough to represent God. Exo 4:10 ; that he could not speak Exo 4:13, and he asked the Lord to send someone else. ( NET note 36)

In spite of all this the Lord was still faithful to him and when Miriam and Aaron spoke against him they came under severe discipline and Moses interceded with God for their lives. Numbers 12:1-15; and the infallible word describes Moses as having a unique relationship with God. Deut 34:10-12;

God was faithful to Gideon who even though he was filled with fear was called by the Lord to deliver Israel from Midian. When called, he began to make excuses. Jdg 6:13, he said I can't go because the Lord had abandoned Israel. In Jdg 6:15, he said he was not fit for the job because he was the least of the least of the least.

God actually performed miracles to demonstrate his faithfulness to Gideon Jdg 6:36-40;

After his victory over Midian with 300 men (This is the first 300 who killed 120,000) he makes a gold covered linen apron or ephod which the people falsely worshiped instead of God. Jdg 8:24-27 NET( note 52) , and in spite of all this the Lord was faithful to him. Jdg 8:28; (Classic example of Freedom and peace through Military Victory)
