Phil 1:11 Gal 5:22-23 The faithfulness of God

We are continuing in the study of the mandate for believer's prayer in the PPOG. . Phil 4:6; 1Thes 5:17;

We are looking at Paul's prayers for believers so we can better understand what we should pray for.

At the moment we are considering Paul's prayer for the spiritual growth of believers that was recorded in Phil 1:9-11;

In verse 11 Paul prays for believers to be filled with the "fruit of righteousness."

This righteousness is produced in the believer by God when the believer is functioning in the spiritual life through the application of Bible Doctrine to experience under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit.

We have seen that in the Phil 1:11; passage the production is viewed with regard to the quality of it's character as the “fruit of righteousness,” and in Gal 5:22, the same production is viewed with regard to it's source as the “fruit of the Spirit.”where details of it's characteristics are also described.

We are presently studying the seventh characteristic of this righteous production of the Spirit in the believer who has the thinking of TLJC through metabolized Bible Doctrine which is the Greek noun "pistis", and is translated as faithfulness which means to be trustworthy, reliable, and steadfast.

God's faithfulness to the believer is the basis for the production of faithfulness by God the Holy Spirit in the believer.

The believer's faithfulness is established in the faithfulness of God and the believer cannot be faithful apart from understanding and living in confident expectation from God and God's faithfulness and grace provision.

At this point in our study we are discussing the process whereby the Holy Spirit works in the believer through Bible Doctrine to parlay God's Faithfulness toward them into a characteristic of faithfulness as a facet of the Fruit of the Spirit which is Righteousness.

This is possible when the believer learns from their perception of Bible Doctrine under the mentor ministry of God the Holy Spirit what God's word says regarding he promises that God has made to the believer regarding what he has provided for them. Rom 10:17;

These resources which were put on deposit in eternity past are made available to every believer at the point of their salvation, Eph 1:3-6; when believers become aware of these resources through their perception of and belief in Bible Doctrine, they can draw from the divine treasury of valuable and preeminent promises which are granted to the church through the TLJC the Rock of our salvation.

The Lord asked His disciples to identify Him,in Matt 16:15-18 ; In verse 16 Peter correctly identifies Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God. In verse 17 the Lord asserts that the heavenly Father had revealed this Peter. In verse 18 He refers to Peter, whose name means "small stone," as a member of a future church which He, the Lord, will construct upon the Bedrock of salvation referred to by Peter in verse 16, "The Christ, the Son of the living God."

TLJC goes on to indicate that even His upcoming physical death could not prevent Him from accomplishing this mission. The structure of which the Lord speaks in this passage is not a building but an organism. And it is to the individual "stones" or members of this organism that the promises are given and it is they who must recall the promises, believe them and live in them.

The writer of Psalm 119:49-50 ; describes this, he acquires confidence from the recall of the promises which are then applied to the circumstances of life which in this case is the death march to Babylon.

We have discussed the experiences of the Exodus generation and the continuous manifestations of God's faithfulness to His elect nation Israel. Even though God kept His promises, most of the first generation never believed promises and consequently they died the sin unto death in the desert. Heb 3:16-19;

Even though they failed, we can gain insight and courage from His faithfulness and continuous grace provision to them even though they remained fearful, stubborn and rebellious in their unbelief.

Isa 43:1 - Now thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you [ bought you out from the slave market of sin of which Egypt was the type ]; I have called you by name [ "He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out," John 10:3 ]; you are Mine [ eternal security]

v 2 When you pass through the waters [ Exodus 14:22 ], I will be with you.
When you pass through the rivers [ Joshua 3:16-17 ], they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire [ Daniel 3:25 ], and you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you."
