Isa 9:6-7; For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

Luke 2:1-20; Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.
2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.

3 And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.
6 While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.
10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;

11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12 "This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."

15 When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us."
16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.

17 When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child.
18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.
20 The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

John 1:14; And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

This year in our Christmas study we are going to look at the Doctrine of the Royalty of Jesus Christ. The adjective royal means kingly and relates to a crown. It's used to describe a king as a sovereign ruler. The noun royalty connotes the regal quality or nature of a king.

The Hebrew word is Melek and the Greek word Basilius are used to describe royalty. Both words are used in connection with our Lord Jesus Christ.

In His session at the right hand of God our Lord Jesus Christ possesses three categories of royalty. By virtue of His being eternal and infinite God, He wears the diadem of the royalty of deity.

By virtue of the virgin birth and incarnation in the line of David he posses the royalty of true humanity and by virtue of His strategic victory of the first Advent he bears the royalty of the battlefield victory of the Hypostatic Union,

His divine royalty is based on the fact He is eternal and infinite God, possessing all the attributes of divine essence. This is Christ's eternal and infinite relationship with the God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is eternal God. He possesses all the attributes of God the Father and God the Holy Spirit and He is coequal and coeternal with them.

As the visible person of the Trinity, our Lord wears the crown of divine royalty, John 1:18; John 6:46; The title for His divine royalty is Son of God. This royalty has no beginning and no end.

Our Lord's humanity bears the royal title of Son of Man. The Jewish royal title of our Lord is Son of David. The virgin birth introduces the humanity of Christ to the world. The virgin birth that we celebrate at Christmas resulted in His incarnation as perfect humanity.

At His virgin birth, our Lord Jesus Christ became Jewish royalty as a direct descendant of King David in the tribe of Judah. Mary is descendant from their son Nathan. Joseph is descendant from their son Solomon, Joseph being Jesus' legal but not real father.

Mary's line from Nathan is recorded in Luke 3:31; Joseph's line comes down from Solomon through Jeconiah (who is also called Coniah who was the source of the Coniah curse recorded in Jer 22:24-30; and Jehoiachin, 2Kings 24:6; Jer 52:31;) and is recorded in Joseph's line in Matt 1:11;

The Coniah curse stated that the Messianic line would at some point be cut off and therefore not descend from Solomon. This curse was fulfilled at the point of the virgin pregnancy of Mary because God the Holy Spirit was the source of the male chromosomes in Mary's pregnancy, not Joseph.

In His resurrection body Jesus Christ will reign over Israel as the Son of David forever.

The promise of the Davidic covenant is found in Psa 89:33-37; "But I will not break off My unfailing love from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness. My covenant I will not violate, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.

35 Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. His descendants shall endure forever And his throne as the sun before Me. It shall be established forever like the moon, And the witness in the sky is faithful. Selah."

2Chronicles 21:7;, "Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David because of the covenant which He had made with David, and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and his sons forever."

Acts 13:22c-23; "I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart who will do My will." "From the descendants of this man, on the basis of the promise, God brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus."

This is an example of the fact that even though fail God, God's unfailing integrity love never fails us. 2Tim 2:13;

Our Lord's hypostatic union royalty is based upon His strategic victory during the first Advent, when He defeated Satan during His thirty- three years of perfect execution of the prototype spiritual life that was conveyed to the Church.

Because of the impeccability He maintained with the power of the prototype spiritual power system, our Lord was qualified to go to the cross and be judged for the sins of all mankind.

That judgment is the beginning of the strategic victory of our Lord that was followed by His resurrection, ascension and session at the right hand of the Father.

The cross was the greatest battlefield in history and His victory on the cross was the greatest victory. 2Cor 5:20-21; This royalty makes Jesus Christ the ruler of elect angels and regenerate mankind, Col 2:14; Heb 2:14-15;

The royal title of His battlefield hypostatic union royalty is "King over kings, Lord over Lords; the Bright Morning Star." "King over kings" gives Christ precedence over human rulers; "Lord over lords" gives Christ precedence over angelic rulers, Phil 2:9-11; Rev 17:14; Rev 19:16; Rev 22:16;

The hypostatic union royalty was given to our Lord Jesus Christ as a verbal commission in Ps 110:1; "The Lord (God the Father) says to my Lord (the Lord Jesus Christ): "Sit down at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet...
You
Psa 110:4; The Lord has made a solemn promise and will not change His mind, `are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.'"

Jesus' new Church Age royal family is completely separate from Israel. Jesus Christ is a king-priest and a new royal priesthood is formed in the dispensation of the Church Age where every Church Age believer is a royal priest, 1 Pet 2:5,9; Rev 1:6.

This is a royal family that is comprised from those who are born again. The Church Age born again believer's royalty has no precedence from physical birth its precedence is the new birth and is not related to race, gender, social economic distinction or national entity. Gal 3:28; Gal 6:15;

In your new spiritual identity as a member of Jesus' hypostatic union royal family you have the same power to fulfill the royal law as our Lord Jesus Christ had during His life on the earth in His unglorified humanity. 2Cor 4:7; 1John 4:17;

Merry Christmas
