The judgment seat of Christ part 22 The categories of death part 8

Rom 8:6; For the viewpoint of the flesh is death, but the viewpoint of the Spirit is life and peace,

Matt 15:1-20; Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,
2 "Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread."

3 And He answered and said to them, "Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
4 "For God said, 'Honor your father and mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death.'

5 "But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,"
6 he is not to honor his father or his mother.' And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

7 "You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:
8 'This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.
9 'But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.' "

10 After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, "Hear and understand.
11 "It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."

12 Then the disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?"
13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted.

14 "Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."
15 Peter said to Him, "Explain the parable to us."
16 Jesus said, "Are you still lacking in understanding also?

17 "Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated?
18 "But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.

19 "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.
20 "These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man."

Phil 4:6-9; Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

In our study on the judgment seat of Christ based on Rev 2:11; we took up a study of the doctrine of death were last time we concluded our study on spiritual death that is the predicate for all categories of death.

A third category of death is positional death of the believer. This has to do with several of the 40 things that occur at salvation where God the Holy Spirit indwells us and fills us thereby entering us into union with Christ as a new spiritual species. 2Cor 5:17; Our union with Christ is called positional truth.

It is defined as identification with Christ in two ways: retroactive positional truth identifies us with Jesus Christ in His death and burial; and current positional truth that identifies us with Jesus Christ in His resurrection life.

So we have a type of death that is actually retroactive. Retroactive means that through the baptism of the Holy Spirit at salvation the believer is positionally identified with Jesus in His death. This is the death that resolves our problem of personal sin.

In His forensic substitutionary spiritual death on the cross Jesus was judged for our sins but on the cross He also rejected both human good and evil. Human good and evil is satan's policy for administering his control of and rule over this world so positional death is also the positional rejection of all human good and evil because they are the works of the devil that must be destroyed.

Col 2:11-12; In fact, in Him you have been circumcised with a circumcision NOT made with hands, by the renunciation of the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ. 12a Having been buried with Him by means of the baptism (of Holy Spirit). 12b in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

This passage correlated baptism and circumcision that are both means of identification. It also addresses both categories of positional truth in Jesus (death and resurrection life).

Remember all sin is evil but not all evil is sin. Human good is not sin but it may be evil. Human good is comprised of the good things that we do when we are not filled with and mentored by God the Holy Spirit so it is the production of the OSN so it is the work or production of the devil.

Human good is when what we choose to do is good but God the Holy Spirit or His Word of truth do not motivate it. It occurs when a right thing that is done in a wrong way so it does not glorify God.

Our Lord rejected human good, He didn't bear it and He was not judged for human good on the cross, He didn't even bear all of our evil. He only took on the part of evil that relates to personal sin.

He was only judged for our sins and since we are identified with Christ in His death we as believers must also use our free volition to choose to reject and experientially separate ourselves from human good and evil while we live in the devil's world on planet earth.

This is one of the reasons God leaves us in the devil's world after we are saved. Phil 1:29;

Believers will be judged for the evil human good that they produce under the power of the OSN during their life in the devil's world.

Rom 6:1-5; "Therefore, what are we to conclude? Are we to continue under the sin nature so that the grace of God might increase? 2 Emphatically not! We who have died to the sin nature, how shall we still live in it?

3 Or, are you ignorant that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus into His death (retroactive positional death) have been baptized?

4Therefore, we have been buried together with Him through baptism into His death, that as Christ has been raised from the dead by means of the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life (residence, function, and momentum in God's spiritual power system])

5 For since (first class condition) we have become intimately united with Him in the likeness of His death (retroactive positional truth), not only this, but also we will be intimately united with Him in the likeness of His resurrection (current positional truth)."
