In our verse by verse study of Romans our next verse is Rom 1:27; where because of negative volition at God consciousness or Gospel hearing God delivers reversionistic unbelievers over to the lust patterns of their old sin nature and the evil of satan's cosmic system that results in sexual perversion.

Rom 1:25; Expanded Translation: "They (reversionist unbelievers) who exchanged the doctrine of the God for a lie (gospel for false doctrine or evil), both worshipped and served the creature (satan) rather than the Creator (Jesus Christ), who is blessed forever. Amen.

Expanded Translation: Rom 1:26; "Because of this (exchange of doctrine for evil) the God delivered them over to passions of dishonor (sexual perversions of degeneracy): for even their females exchanged the normal function (of sex) for that which is contrary to or beyond nature or abnormal."

Rom 1:27; "And in the same way also the men." The adverb of comparison "homoios," "In the same way," plus the second connective particle "te" that is repeated from verse 26, the repetition means "also."

There is also the assentive use of the conjunction "kai," so it should be translated "and also in the same way even."

The term "lesbian" comes from the island of Lesbos in the Aegean Sea. In this case in contrast to lesbianism we have "homosexuality" for male sexual perversion so it can be translated "also in the same way even the men.

The nominative masculine plural subject "arsenes" that means males and has a very strong emphasis of perversion "abandoned the natural use of the female." -

From the aorist active participle of "aphimi" means to let go, to send away, to give up, or to abandon. This is a temporal participle so it can be translated as a temporal clause, "after they abandoned."

The ingressive aorist tense contemplates the action of the verb from its beginning by using this verb to signify the state or condition of homosexuality by denoting the entrance into that state.

There is no such thing as being born with any kind of handicap that makes a person a homosexual. The entry into that state is the result of the function of one's free volition so submit to the lust pattern of the old sin nature and demonic evil resident in the soul.

This is emphasized because like any sin, it is curable with the free will choice to listen to and comply with God's Word of truth. Negative volition to God's Word always precedes personal sin.

This contradicts what human psychology teaches but God's Word is better informed than human psychology so God's Word takes precedence over and supercedes human psychology.

The active voice: homosexual males produce the action of the verb. The participle is temporal so it explains that regardless of what they think homosexuals first reject normal sex with a woman as a deliberate free volitional choice after rejecting God's Word of truth in reversionism that results in demonic evil filling the vacuum in their soul and hijacking their thinking.

Demonic evil distorts the thinking of the soul, otherwise no man could sexually arouse another man and no woman could ever sexually arouse another woman.

The accusative singular direct object from the adjective "physikos" reveals the natural order of man with woman; and "chrhsis," "use" or "function"; plus the genitive of relationship of "thelus" of the female."

"Burned" is the aorist passive indicative of "ekkiao" that means to become inflamed (with sexual desire). The aorist tense is a culminative aorist that views homosexuality in its entirety but regards it from the viewpoint of existing results.

In other words, because of evil it is entered into at some point of time. That is the point of time when evil begins to control the soul, and from that point on the thinking becomes anti-woman and pro-male, and at that point the culminative aorist tense tells us that man arouses man.

The passive voice means that the reversionistic homosexual receives the action of the verb. The indicative mood is declarative, viewing the verbal action from the standpoint of reality.

"In their desire" is "en" plus the locative of "orexis" that means desire or lust, in this case it is sexual lust, "one toward another" - the preposition "eis" plus the accusative of "allelon", referring to another of the same category.

"Men with men committing shameful acts" the masculine plural subject "aschemosyne", and "en" plus the locative of "arsen", "males with males"; plus the present active participle of the verb "katergazomai," that means to express what is in the thinking in this case sexual lust that is both perverted and deviant.

It means to accomplish something, so the present tense is progressive present denoting an action that began in the past and continues into the present. This can also be a perfective present denoting the continuation of the existing function of homosexuality.

The active voice: the homosexual produces the action of the verb by relating abnormal lust to a sexual relationship. The participle is circumstantial for perverted fornication and homosexuality.

We translate it "accomplishing." With it is an accusative singular direct object from "aschemosyne" a perverted or shameless act.

"And receiving" "opolambano" means to receive back what is due or to receive what is owed. This is a perfective present tense denoting a continuation of the pay-off of homosexuality.

The active voice: homosexuals receive back judgment from God's justice. The participle is circumstantial for an abnormal, perverted activity that receives just payment from the God's justice.

"In themselves," NASB has "in their own persons" "en" plus the locative plural of the reflexive pronoun "heautou." The reflexive pronoun refers the action of the verb boomeranging back onto the subject "receiving back in themselves.

"The penalty" the accusative singular of the definite article "ho" used as a demonstrative pronoun, plus the accusative singular direct object of antimisthia (anti = against; mistthia = reward), so against reward means penalty, retribution, or judgment.

"Of their error" - genitive singular of possession from "plane," can be translated "error" or " perversion."

"The due" is from the accusative feminine singular of the relative pronoun "hos" plus the imperfect active indicative of "dei," meaning what is inevitable. This is the customary imperfect that describes what regularly occurs when homosexuality is practiced.

Translation: "But also in the same manner even the males (homosexuals), after they first abandoned the normal sexual function of the female, became inflamed with sexual desire in their lust toward each other (of the same category); accomplishing the perverted act, and receiving back payment in themselves the appropriate penalty for their perversion"
