In our verse-by-verse study of Romans we finished Rom 2:5. Our expanded translation is "Because of your hardness and unrepentant heart, you store up and accumulate for yourself wrath against the day of wrath, even disclosure of just judgment from the God."

The words translated heart, hardness, unrepentant, and judgment in this verse brought up some doctrines to look at and we are presently looking at the doctrine of the heart.

At the moment we are looking at the compartments of the heart where last time we started looking at the momentum compartment.

We noted that the momentum compartment can also be described as the compartment of spiritual growth. This is the sphere of spiritual growth that is based on momentum that is developed under the enabling power of the Holy Spirit from the application of metabolized doctrine.

It is the result of having doctrine in the frame of reference and choosing to moving it into memory center, vocabulary and categorical storage, developing norms and standards; we then have a growth factor from metabolized doctrine that propels us toward spiritual maturity.

The two categories of spiritual growth are called normal and accelerated. Normal spiritual growth comes from post-salvation renovation of the thinking. This is the function of reception, retention and recall of operation Z.

Receptive comprehension is the first three stage of Operation Z, followed by retention that is the metabolization of Bible doctrine where gnosis is converted into epignosis followed by recall for doctrinal application.

Accelerated spiritual growth comes from the application of metabolized doctrine and the development of the problem solving devices of spiritual adulthood under suffering, pressure, and adversity for blessing. There are three categories of suffering for blessing in spiritual adulthood.

Spiritual self-esteem plus providential preventative suffering results in spiritual autonomy. Spiritual autonomy plus momentum testing results in spiritual maturity and spiritual maturity plus evidence testing results in maximum glorification of God.

It is also true that you can learn from the punitive suffering of divine discipline under the law of volitional responsibility and self-induced misery. But that is a slow process and does not necessarily advance you to spiritual self-esteem that comes with spiritual adulthood.

The next compartment of the heart is the wisdom compartment that is the launching pad for the application of doctrine. Wisdom is the application of metabolized doctrine and problem solving devices to the various experiences of life.

Wisdom is predicated on the learning of Bible doctrine. Otherwise, arrogance is developed. Without wisdom, there is arrogance. This is why God allowed Paul to have a "thorn in the flesh."

The Greek word for wisdom "sophia," and the Hebrew equivalent, "chakmah" refer to the ability to relate metabolized doctrine in the heart to life. It is the ability to accurately deal with life based on the accumulated facts of Church Age mystery doctrine.

Wisdom is the application of metabolized doctrine and the deployment of problem solving devices for both normal and accelerated growth.

The launching pad is connected to your memory center. This is where doctrine is evaluated for deployment. The launching pad takes recall of doctrine and applies it to experience under the function of the believer's royal priesthood.

This is how the Church Age believer's spiritual sacrifices that are accepted by God are made. 1Pet 2:5;

The launching pad is used for the application of metabolized doctrine for problem solving for both normal and accelerated spiritual advance. One of the greatest areas of accelerated growth is from the deployment of metabolized doctrine in both suffering for blessing.

Believers cannot apply what they do not know and they can only apply doctrine for themselves no one else can do it for them because each individual's free volition is the issue.

The launching pad is where thought is converted into action. It is where standards are applied to life. All other parts of the heart work together to make an application.

As more doctrine is applied more wisdom is developed. On the launching pad all the doctrine that is available in the heart's various compartments is brought together for application. This is where the categories of doctrine including faith, hope, virtue love, and the other problem solving devices have their power.

This means that the application of doctrine in the privacy of your own priesthood is always to your own situation it is not trying to apply your norms and standards to others unless you are a parent applying it for your minor children.

1Cor 1:30; "But you are from Him in Christ Jesus who became to us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification and redemption."

1Cor 2:7-8; "For we communicate God's wisdom in a mystery which has been hidden, which God predestined before the ages for the purpose of your glory, (divine wisdom) which none of the rulers of this age have understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."

James 3:17; "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and divine good production, impartial, without hypocrisy."

Phil 4:8; "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is integrity, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if there is any virtue, if there is anything worthy of praise, concentrate on these things."

A lot more can be learned about the heart but that is beyond the scope of our study in Romans.
