Comparison of Israel and the Church continued....

We are continuing in our study where we are discussing the relationship between the Jewish Feasts and the events of the First Advent of TLJC that launched the church age.

We have seen that the Jewish Feasts that relate to the events of the First Advent of TLJC are Passover, Unleavened Bread: First Fruits and Pentecost, the day that the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell and fill believers universally providing the power for unique spiritual life for believers in the church age.

We have seen that the model and precedence for this unique spiritual life was established by TLJC during his life on this earth in unglorified humanity at the beginning of the hypostatic union. Heb 10:5; Heb 12:2a;

At Pentecost God launched the church age and in view of this at this point in our study, we are briefly contrasting Israel and the Church.

Last time we ended with the idea that salvation has always been the same in all ages, Salvation is always by Grace through faith alone because all of the merit in salvation can only accrue to God and Grace is only compatible with Faith as a system of perception.

For the Church, Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 16:31; Eph 2:8-9;
For Israel salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ, Romans 1:1-4;

For the church every believer in union with Christ, 1Cor 12:13;
For Israel there is no union with Christ in death, burial, and resurrection.

For the church there is Neither Jew nor Gentile, Gal 3:28; the church is a new spiritual species.
For Israel there are Israelites and Gentile proselytes.

For the Church Jesus Christ indwells every believer. Col 1:25-27;
For Israel Jesus Christ did not indwell believers

For the Church God the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, John 14:17;
For Israel God the Holy Spirit empowered certain individuals for special jobs, at specific times. Moses, Num 11:17; David 1Sam 16:13;

For the Church there is the universal priesthood of every believer, 1Pet 2:5,9.
For Israel there the specialized priesthood, Tribe of Levi, Num 18:20-32;
This means that Israel had a priesthood, but the church is a priesthood.

For the church the canon of scripture is completed.
For Israel the Canon was incomplete

For the Church the Filling of the Holy Spirit is spirituality, Eph 5:18;Gal 5:22-23;
For Israel The faith-rest technique was spirituality, Heb 11:1-2;

The Church emphasizes the role and responsibility of individual believer. Every believer is an ambassador for Christ, in full time Christian service, 2Cor 5:20.
For Israel there is emphasis on special leadership, such as prophets and kings. King David is an example of this: 1Sam 16:13;

For the Church, the only ritual is communion, Luke 22:19-20; 1Cor 11:23-34;
For Israel there is much ritual: Shadow revelation, concerning Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10;

For the Church there is No Sabbath day; Believers live in the continuous sabbath of Faith Rest. Heb 4:9-11;
For Israel there is the Sabbath and the Feast days: Lev 23:1;-Lev 23:44;

The Governing principle for Israel was the Mosaic law Joshua 22:5; Psa 119:97-104; Psa 103:17-18;
The Church functions under the direct mentorship of God the Holy Spirit Phil 2:13; Titus 2:11-12;
