Mark 1:23-24; The doctrine of demon posession part 3

In our study of Mark we are now in Mark 1:23-24; where we see Jesus teaching with authority in the synagogue and while he was teaching a demon screamed out at him through a demon possessed man so we have taken up a study of demon influence and demon possession.

When we stopped last time I made the case that our nation is filled with idolatry and the phallic cult even though almost nobody recognizes it for what it is.

Because of this our nation is under demonic assault in ways we could have never imagined and the socialist Marxist fascist tyrants who have acquired authority through lies and deceit are rapidly destroying the USA as an establishment based free nation.

Satan uses certain demons to produce disease in human beings, Matt 12:22; Luke 13:16; Acts 10:38. Demon influence attacks the body through demon-induced illness because improper thinking from demon influence can lead to illness. Prov 17:22;

Demon possession can function in either a passive or an active mode. The passive mode is accomplished through idolatry, unrestrained sexual activity and/or drug induced hallucination; examples of this include Hindu soma mysteries, whirling dances, tongues, the phallic cult, and the oracle of Delphi.

In this mode of demon possession emotion is stimulated to the exclusion of rational thought. This is most likely the case of the demon-possessed man in our passage.

In the active mode a satanic mass such as a séance or some system of astrology is used for actively turning the soul and volition over to Satan. The body is brought under the control of the soul and the soul is given to Satan. Emotion takes over the soul. The person becomes a disembodied person.

In this situation a person can send his soul into space to determine what others are doing, through mental telepathy, or ESP. Telepathy, thought transmission, and mind reading are related to this type of demon possession.

Under this system, the mind of one person can often influence and take control of another willing participant. The mind of one person can both influence or hypnotize to such a degree so as to impart knowledge not previously known. This was the case of the King Saul and the witch of Endor. 1Sam 28:7-19;

Anything that reorients a person to legitimate authority makes it impossible for this to work.

Demonism is related to idolatry and human sacrifice. Sacrifice to demons is prohibited in Lev 17:7; Deut 32:17.

The idols of the heathen nations were demons so their worship always involved demon influence and possession. Psa 96:5;

Their demon worship and idolatry included the most horrible sexual practices, including rape, homosexuality, bestiality, and the sacrifice of children, Psa 106:37-39;

This is why the demon influenced "politically correct" demon doctrine of multiculturalism that is being taught in our country today is so evil because it equates the cultures that worship of demons with the culture that worships the one true God and alleges that Satan's lie is just as valid as God's truth.

Authority is necessary to restrain demonism so those involved with demonism in Israel were subject to capital punishment, Lev 20:27;

Jesus Christ controls history by the restraint of demonism. An example of His control was the first-born judgment on Egypt, Exod 12:12. At the same time, Egypt's demon "gods" were judged, Num 33:4;

Without God's judgment on the demon power in Egypt, the children of Israel would not have been able to leave slavery in Egypt and become God's first free client nation.

Even though the demons are very powerful and try to change history, they are ultimately powerless to change it. Isa 19:3; Rev 19:20;

The nations of Canaan were destroyed because of their demon activity, Deut 18:9-12; the same is true of Athens, Persia, and Assyria. Military disaster is often the result of demon-influenced leadership. 1Chron 10:1-4;

God sentenced Saul to death for his use of the demons to contact Samuel from the grave. 1Chr 10:13-14; The nation of Israel reached the lowest forms of apostasy because of demon activity. 2Kings 21:2-3;

Demonism brings the fifth cycle of discipline to a nation, Isa 47; Jer 27:6-10; Isa 29:4; God uses Satan and demons in the administration of warning discipline 1Tim 3:6-7; and for the execution the sin unto death to reversionistic believers, 1Cor 5:5; 1Tim 1:19-20;

In our study of Mark we are now in Mark 1:23-24; where we see Jesus teaching with authority in the synagogue and while he was teaching a demon screamed out at him through a demon possessed man so we have taken up a study of demon influence and demon possession.

When we stopped last time we saw that demonism brings the fifth cycle of discipline to a nation, Isa 47; Jer 27:6-10; Isa 29:4; God uses Satan and demons in the administration of warning discipline 1Tim 3:6-7; and for the execution the sin unto death to reversionistic believers, 1Cor 5:5; 1Tim 1:19-20;

Satan and by extension the demons under his command have the power to cause disease, death, and miracle cures, Psa 109:6-13. He blinds through religion, verse 7. He shortens life, verse 8a. He removes people from authority, verse 8b. He has the power of death, verse 9. He persecutes children, verse 10.

He can remove wealth, verse 11. He can turn everyone against you, verse 12. He cuts off posterity to the second generation, verse 13. He is a killer, Heb 2:14-15; Job 1:12, 18-19; John 8:44; 1John 3:12;

He is the source of certain demon induced diseases, Job 2:6-8; Matt 12:22 ; Luke 13:16, Acts 10:38; including mental illness, Mark 5:1-13;

He can cause blindness, deafness and dumbness, Mark 9:17; Luke 11:14; Mark 9:25; Matt 12:22; Epilepsy, Mark 1:26, 9:20; Luke 4:35.

Satan, through demon possession is a source of abnormal behavior including Convulsions, Mark 1:26, Mark 9:20; . Abnormal violence, Matt 8:28; Abnormal strength, Mark 5:4; Luke 8:29;

Raving or screaming, Mark 1:23-24; Mark 5:5; Self-mutilation, Mark 5:5; Foaming at the mouth, Mark 9:20; Public nakedness Luke 8:27; Living among dead bodies, Mark 5:3; Grinding the teeth, Mark 9:18; Trying to commit suicide by exposing yourself to known danger Matt 17:15;

Since Satan can be the source of illness he can also heal when he orders the removal of a demon induced illness causing the person to be cured. This is how he can appear to perform a miracle by simulating the temporary gift of healing.

During the early part of the church age healing was a temporary gift, Acts 19:11-12. At the beginning of his ministry Paul could heal at random, but this gift was removed once his authority was established, Phil 2:27; 2Tim 4:20;

Satan performs miracles including healing at certain strategic times to advance his agenda. He will perform miracles during the Tribulation in order to create a following for his false teachers, 2Thes 2:9; Rev 16:14; Matt 24:24; and deceive almost everyone.

Demon possession can therefore be an explanation of some cases of supernatural phenomena such things as "divine healing," speaking in tongues, the rise of certain world rulers, certain wars, anti-Semitism, the contacting the dead, etc.

We see from this that demons attack through both through aberrant activity and antithetically through culture and intellectual activity.

Some summary principles regarding demon possession:

Demon possession never occurs apart from human consent. A series of bad decisions are required for a demon to be permitted to invade the body of an unbeliever. The bad decisions are related to cosmic involvement, idolatry, the occult, drug abuse or the unrestrained sexual lust and idolatry of the phallic cult.

Idolatry is a basic system for demon possession, Luke 17:7; Deut 32:17; Psa 96:5, Psa 106:37-39;

Passive submission to demons is accomplished through drug addiction, idolatry, the phallic cult, or any prolonged involvement in the cosmic system.

Active submission to demon possession comes from deliberate development of emotional revolt of the soul or the Satanic mass, and can be both violent and painful, Luke 13:11-16; This woman was positive and she was trying to get to Jesus and apparently couldn't speak because of the demon possession.

Whenever Jesus cast out a demon there was almost always some arrogant self-righteous legalistic person standing around to challenge Him. Matt 12:22-28;

In Mark 3:15, Jesus delegated the authority of exorcism to his disciples and in Acts 5:16, Acts 8:7; Acts 19:12; He delegated that authority to the apostles of the church.

Demon possession it was the basis for capital punishment under the laws of divine establishment, Lev 20:27;

In His control of history Col 1:17;, our Lord often judges demon activity, Exod 12:12; This means that even though the demons have great influence they are ultimately powerless to control history, Isa 19:3;

The demonization of a nation results in the destruction of that nation, Isa 47; Jer 27:6-10 and it results in the administration of the fifth cycle of discipline on a client nation, Deut 18:9-12;

God uses demons for the administration of the sin unto death. 1Cor 5:5;
Because of their communication gift, pastors are targets for demon influence, 1Tim 3:6-7; Demon influence causes decisions to be made from the emotion. Phil 3:18;

Satan uses demons to produce disease, Matt 12:22; Luke 13:16; Acts 10:23; and those demon induced diseases can be healed by a "miracle" when Satan removes the demon to produce a cure.

This bring us back to our passage in Mark 1:23-24; where Jesus came face to face with a demon while he was teaching in the synagogue.

Mark 1:25; Here we see Jesus' response to the demonic's arrogant outburst. First, He "rebuked" the demon.

In the New Testament there are two words used for rebuke. The first is "elencho" that means a rebuke that results in a conviction of sin and sometimes an acknowledgement of sin on the offender's part. The second is "epitimao" that means a rebuke that fails to bring the offender to acknowledge his sin.

This is the word Jesus uses in our passage. Satan and the demons are incorrigible. They are locked into their negative volition and will never change their thinking.

This is a perfect illustration of the meticulous accuracy in the choice of words that the writers of scripture used under the mentorship of God the Holy Spirit. 2Tim 3:16;
