Isa 14:13-14; The doctrine of revolution part 10

In our study of the doctrine of revolution we have seen that revolution always involves plotting, intrigue and machination against establishment truth and those who enforce it.

All of this started with Satan, the first malcontent, who invented the first lie that became the first public lie that led to the first conspiracy and the first revolution in the angelic realm. Isa 14:13-14;
This was the beginning of the Angelic Conflict.

God sentenced satan and those who followed him in the revolution to the lake of fire. Matt 25:41;

Satan then alleged that God's sentence was unjust so God created mankind to be a witness for or against God regarding satan's allegation that God was unjust.

This means that during human history those who stand for the categories of truth testify for God. Those who choose to believe the lie and function in the evil of conspiracy and revolution testify for satan.

This is the invisible war that is a spiritual battle that often breaks out into overt warfare during the course of human history. Eph 6:12; Matt 24:6;

Those who foment and engage in revolution use the freedom they have received from divine establishment policies to destroy the very freedom they enjoy through social engineering, activism, socialism, and civil disobedience.

In essence revolution bites the hand that feeds it because it rejects and rebels against the policies that actually create and maintain their freedom.

Religion, immorality, socialism, internationalism, and environmentalism are forms of evil that destroy freedom because they reject the divine establishment principles that create and maintain freedom.

We are presently looking at Absalom's rebellion against David where we see Absalom using his position, his attractiveness, his personality combined with the arrogance skills and hypocrisy to change the allegiance of the people from David's legitimate authority and power to Absalom's evil illegitimate power.

The inspiring personality, that can motivate people, can also possess evil power over people. Loyalty to evil power contradicts the true biblical concept of integrity, honor, and virtue. These distortions, distractions, and deceptions are resolved by making Bible doctrine number one priority in the life.

Last time we noted that Absalom used religion as a cloak for his evil intentions. This is also a big factor in the events of our world today where Islam uses religion as a cloak for evil.

2Sam 15:12-16; "While he was offering these sacrifices (in Hebron), Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's (former) secretary of state, from his home in Giloh. Therefore the conspiracy gained momentum and the people came to Absalom in constantly increasing numbers.

v13 Now an intelligence agent came to David, and reported, `It has happened. The hearts of the people of Israel follow Absalom.'

2Sam 15:14; Then David issued a command to all his loyal staff who were with him in Jerusalem, We must flee, for otherwise none of us will escape from Absalom. Move out immediately, lest he pursue rapidly and overtake us and bring disaster to our cause and furthermore massacre the city with the edge of the sword.'

v15 Then the king's staff replied to the king, "Your loyal staff is ready to do whatever our lord the king decides. So the king departed with all his family in trail. But the king left behind ten concubines to keep the palace."

The people of Hebron were very vulnerable to Absalom's revolutionary propaganda, because they were bitter from what they considered to be an insult that occurred when David moved his capital city from Hebron to Jerusalem after he conquered it.

Absalom used religion and ritual animal sacrifices as a veil to provide cover for his launch of the revolution.

Absalom sent for Ahithophel because he was considered the wisest man in the land and had been an advisor for David. Ahithophel directed the revolutionary strategy. Absalom was the leader of the revolution, Ahithophel was the brains. He was famous for his wisdom, 2Sam 16:23.

Ahithophel had reacted to David in bitterness, hatred, malice and revenge motivation and implacability. He was a crusader who became a criminal through the arrogance skills.

He was the grandfather of Bathsheba and possibly defected to Absalom because he was bitter about how David had treated her and that he had murdered Uriah, her husband to hide his rape of her from him.

Ahithophel's son Eliam who was Bathsheba's father was one of David's famous generals who remained loyal to David in spite of this, 2 Sam 23:34.

Ahithophel was the author of two courses of action for Absalom to take to establish his power. He advised Absalom to rape the ten ladies of David's harem to indicate that the breech between father and son was irreconcilable. 2Sam 16:21-22;

Ahithophel also advised Absalom to pursue David immediately as David fled Jerusalem. 2Sam 17:1; Absalom did not take this advise and his failure to do so enabled David to escape.

Ahithophel committed suicide because Absalom's disregarded his advice enabling David to escape. 2 Sam 17:23.

Either David or Joab or both became suspicious as rumors began to spread about what Abslalom was doing in Hebron. So they sent an intelligence agent to Hebron who saw the situation and reported back.

The report accurately stated that the revolution had begun. God promoted David so only God could demote David, Absalom could not remove David from the throne unless God permitted it.

This is the principle of: If God does not promote you, you are not promoted and if God does not demote you, you are not demoted. Rom 13:1;

The only thing that will remove David will be his death in old age. Jesus Christ controls history, not the revolution that is fomented by evil people.

In this case the revolution will fail because of the nation of Israel has a pivot of mature believers who have God's Word of truth resident in their thinking.

David ordered retreat out of thoughtfulness for the people of Jerusalem. His retreat from Jerusalem did not conflict with his personal sense of destiny. He understood that He was king wherever he resided.

The legitimate government must remain intact during the crisis. David's army could not defend the legitimate government in Jerusalem because it was scattered throughout the land so David was loyal to his staff and withdrew to protect their lives.

David is a good solder so he understands that he must choose the place where the battle will occur so that he will have the advantage. He knows that he must not let Absalom choose the location of the battle.

David needs a battlefield that will not endanger the lives of his subjects and where he can concentrate his forces and maneuver. Remaining in Jerusalem reduces David's ability to maneuver.

He understands that a good strategy is no better than good tactical execution so he would not be boxed in by trying to engage Absalom from Jerusalem so for the moment he conceded it confident that God would restore Jerusalem to him at the proper time.

The people who had remained incorruptible from God's Word in their thinking included both the military and administrative staffs. The revolutionists were following a person. Those who were incorruptible were following the immutable eternal principles of God's Word of truth.

Just before he withdrew from Jerusalem David wrote Psa 62;. This was David's thinking when he heard the news of the revolution. David is able to think under pressure by his application of doctrine to the circumstances of life using by the deployment of the problem solving devices.

Because of his humility David won the battle in his thinking before the battle was even engaged.

Psa 62:1, "For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul waits in silence for God only; My deliverance comes from Him."

This is the time for the faith-rest drill to be deployed on the FLOT line of the soul. His wins the battle in his soul long before the battle is fought. There is no panic in his soul at all

Psa 62:2, "For He alone is my rock and my deliverance, He is my fortress; I cannot be shaken." David was leaving the castle in Jerusalem behind because he does not need it. He needed to pick his own battlefield not the one Absalom has chosen.

Psa 62:3, "How long will you attack a man, That all of you may murder him, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?" This is David's message to Absalom and his army. Revolution seeks to murder establishment leadership and destroy establishment government.

Psa 62:4, "They have plotted only to topple him from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah." Politicians who become revolutionists are liars.

Psa 62:5, "My soul finds rest in God alone, For my confidence comes from Him." David has a personal sense of destiny and no unrealistic expectations. Doctrinal rationales result in realistic expectation.

Psa 62:6, "For He alone is my rock and my deliverance, He is my fortress; I cannot be shaken."

Psa 62:7, "My deliverance and my honor depend on God; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God." David is thinking offensively as he is moving out to a place where he can maneuver freely.

Psa 62:8, "O people, trust in Him at all times; Pour out your heart before Him; for God is a our refuge. Selah."

Psa 62:9, "Men of low degree are only vanity, and men of rank are but a lie; In the balances they go up; They together weigh no more than a breath."
The revolutionists are scum, functioning under the arrogance skills. Both the revolutionary scum and the revolutionary aristocracy are nothing.

Psa 62:10, "Do not trust in terror, And do not become vain by robbery; Though your riches increase, do not become arrogant." This is David's message to those who have fallen for the propaganda and allure of the revolution.

Psa 62:11, "One thing God has communicated; Two things I have heard: power belongs to God;"

Psa 62:12, "And grace belongs to You, O Lord, For You will prosper each person on the basis of his production." God makes sure everyone reaps what they sow.

We also see David's thankful grace oriented attitude toward God displayed in Psa 23:5-6; "You have deployed a table in front of me for my benefit in the sight of my enemies. You have anointed my head with oil. My cup overflows.

v6 Without a doubt, good (prosperity, blessing and happiness) and grace shall pursue me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

David wrote these words right after he had fled from Jerusalem as Absalom was attacking. Verse five is a military metaphor where we have the order of battle and in verse six we have the winner in pursuit.

There are two winners in this military metaphor: David, who deployed the problem solving devices on the FLOT line of his soul for the greatest test of his life and the Lord Jesus Christ, who provided the grace pursuit.

David was a winner before the battle began because he deployed the problem solving devices on the FLOT line of his soul. He was a winner because doctrine in his soul made him a recipient of God's initiative of antecedent grace.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the ultimate winner because He made antecedent grace possible and He pursued David with grace because of his humility. James 4:6b;

The battle is won before the battle is fought because the battle is initially won in the thinking of the soul. This emphasizes the importance of the three spiritual skills: the filling of the Spirit, metabolization of doctrine, and the deployment of the problem solving devices in the thinking on the FLOT line of the soul.

David will not lose the table God has prepared for him. The table refers to the problem solving devices. The problem solving devices will remain deployed on the FLOT line of his soul during the entire crisis.

David will not lose the anointing, Psa 89:20. The unconditional irrevocable Davidic covenant will be fulfilled when Jesus Christ returns at His second advent, 2Sam 7:8-16; Psa 89:20-37; 2Chron 21:7;

The humanity of Christ in hypostatic union is the seed of David, Rom 1:3. The title "Son of David" is a reference to the Davidic covenant, Matt 1:1; Luke 3:31.
