Heb 4:12; The doctrine of doctrinal orientation part 6

Lam 3:21-25; I recall this (God's Word of truth) to my mind, and it gives me confidence. Because The Lord's mercy never fails; His grace provisions never cease, they are renewed every morning; Great is Your faithfulness... I therefore have hope in Him. The Lord is good to those who wait silently on Him.

We are presently in a study of the doctrine of winner believers Heb 12:2; Rev 2:7; who are the unknown, unsung heroes of history as God's witnesses in the prosecution of satan and the fallen angels. 2Cor 6:9; and who are the targets of God's grace imputations and one of the reason why God continues to support the human race in the evil adversity of the devil's world. 2Pet 3:9;

God's Word creates capacity for the believer to trust in God to work on their behalf even when they don't fully understand it. Doctrinal viewpoint is what enables the believer to have the patience to wait on God's timing. Isa 40:31; and accept His sovereign decision no matter what the outcome.

This is what winners do. Matt 26:39; Phil 2:5-11;

We describe this viewpoint that is based on the reality of God's Word of truth as doctrinal orientation.

Doctrinal orientation Is established when the believer believes and places priority on the invisible reality that God's Word aka Bible Doctrine reveals as it begins to circulate in the believer's stream of consciousness and becomes the basis for their decisions in life.

God's Word is powerful because it is a readout of God's sovereignty as established in His Divine Decree and is more certain than the heavens and the earth. Matt 24:35;

Heb 4:12; "For the word of God is alive and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to separate the soul and the spirit, both joints and marrow, able to evaluate the thoughts and the motivations of the heart."

We are presently looking at the example of the application of the doctrine of verbal, plenary inspiration in Heb 10:35-38; that tells us that the Jewish believers in Jerusalem in 67 AD were at risk of "throwing Bible doctrine away" as worthless because of their emotional attachment to the ritual plan.

Last time we stopped in Heb 10:36; where we were noting that the believer's soul must be prepared for the spiritual advance in the same way that a person in the military must prepare for combat.

That means that "you have need of perseverance and steadfastness" with regard to your positive volition toward Bible doctrine.

The will of God for your life is that you increase in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2Pet 3:18;) and to do that you must have perseverance in learning the thinking of Jesus Christ that is contained in His Word of truth.

Verses 37 and 38 are quotations from Old Testament prophecies that predict the imminent return of Jesus and the believer's basis for thinking from doctrinal viewpoint (or by means of faith) while they wait for that event to occur.

Acts 1:8; tells us that we are to be witnesses for Jesus on the earth in the devil's world until He fulfils His promise to return.

Heb 10:37; For a little while longer and He who is coming will come and not delay.

The word translated " little while" is the Greek word "mikron" that means small or short it is transliterated into the English as a Metric unit of measure that is 1 millionth of a meter.

"Mikron" is followed by two instances of the Greek word "hosos" so in the Greek it says literally "mikron hosos hosos" that is translated " little while how short how short" a quotation from Isa 26:20; "hide a little while" connected with a quotation from Hab 2:3;" wait for it for it will certainly come it will not delay."

The opportunity is always short, so you must always be prepared. This is what the words "how short, how short" mean. They mean that sometime in your life you are going to unexpectedly have a full-blown disaster to deal with.

You will be faced with an unexpected disaster out of nowhere suddenly and when you are if you do not have Bible doctrine you are going to be caught short and you are going to fall apart under the pressure that is created.

But if you take in Bible doctrine today, tomorrow, the next, and the next, then when a disaster hits you have the doctrine you need to hold your position.

You train, and train, and train some more and when the sudden adversity comes it really lasts only for a moment while and it's over. 2Cor 4:17;

It's like watching for deer from a deer stand for hours and hours day after day and becoming so weary from watching that you are unprepared when the deer actually does show up suddenly and then runs off before you are able to shoot.

Heb 10:37; " coming " is the present active participle of the Greek word "erchomai" that refers to Jesus coming for the Church and the exit resurrection of the royal family of God.

In the original context of Old Testament prophecy it referred to the second advent but in the Church Age it refers to the exit resurrection or Rapture of the Church.

The Rapture of the Church will occur seemingly suddenly and will unexpectedly and terminate the Church Age and the Age of Israel will resume with the tribulational period of the Age of Israel.

A good translation of v37 is "For yet a little while, how short, how short, he who is coming will arrive, and will not delay his arrival."

v38 My righteous one shall live by means of doctrine and if he shrinks back my soul has no pleasure in him.
